Production Blog: Final Part

Image
We have now entered the final part of editing. We've finished the main portion. I'm confident in the work we've done so far. The process was actually pretty simple. It was a lot easier than expected. I had no complaints throughout the whole thing. Not sure about the other guys though. But I'm sure that would say something similar. Expect I think there was an audio issue. But it was just on Daniel's end. Apparently, when he tried to mix audio with dialogue there were some difficulties. The combination wasn't right. And when the problem was managed it didn't seem to get any better. Because of this, we had to make an unexpected decision. We decided to just leave it in the background music. I'm glad we were able to stay calm. We overcame the issue and didn't let it hinder us from completing our duty. I'm also proud of our growth. Not only in the film but as a group together. The ups and downs taught us valuable lessons that we may have otherwise not

Editing process in film

This part was a pain. I knew going into it that it would be something annoying. But I didn't think it we be this annoying. And also pretty long. We decided to divide the work among the group. So this way we wouldn't be as burned out or annoyed while editing. Daniel suggested working on Adobe Premiere Pro but we decided on CapCut. Mainly because it's easy to work on. It also has many features and gets frequent updates. Files can also be easily shared with others and other platforms. With adobe you also have to pay. And CapCut is free. This is great for the group to work together. This would be more beneficial to us. Easier for us to brainstorm. As well as bringing things into the film while editing. As far as how we will edit in unknown. Maybe we will edit one at a time. Maybe we will edit all together at the same time. Nonetheless, we will figure out what's best.

The music of the production blog

Now we had to find out what music we were going to use in the film. We wanted to find music that fits the vibe of the film. As well as bring tension and intrigue to the story. Daniel said earlier "It should be something you can feel. First, we had to decide what song we would use. Finding the song took a while. We wanted to make sure we picked the best one for the film. We also wanted to insert the music at the perfect moment. Copyright made finding the songs harder. Many of our first choices had copyrights on them. So our sources were limited. We eventually found the song we were looking for. We tried to reach out to some artists. We reached out via email. We reached out to nine in total. But none of them even got back to us. So then we decided to take matters into our own hands. So Daniel used his skills to our advantage, by making our own music. Once that didn't work we just decided to find a free non-copyright song. Now onto the editing.

Continuation of the production process

Finally, we had a day that we were all free to meet up. It was a hassle to do so, we had to clear up our schedule and make time to do it. But we knew we had to get it done. The whole process of re-recording is getting pretty tiring now. But the end goal is keeping us motivated to keep giving it our all. I have to say one part that I really enjoy about recording is the company. I enjoy being around Lucas and Daniel. I don't even look at it as work. But rather just a hangout between us, with some work that we need to do. I can't speak for them, but I enjoy their company. It's always a good time. This portion of the filming took place in Lucas' house. We first started a shot with a box under a light with a bird's eye view. This gave us some struggles. Mainly because we kept getting in the way of the shot. Our shadows were a problem also. To counteract this, we decided to use a ladder to get the shot done. And it worked well for sure. After that, we did some other simp

A change in the production process

After recording my group went into the editing phase of the work. We decided that we could've done more in the recording phase. So we decided to re-record some scenes. The reason behind this decision was that while editing we noticed that the audio could've been better and should've been a little more synced up. So we went back to Lucas's house and planned would we would change. We came up with the idea to change a few things around.  We drove over to a McDonald's near Lucas's house to record. Usually, they won't allow people to film in the establishment, that's why I was confused about how we were going to record at first. But Daniel had a friend who was the manager that allowed us to record quickly. Daniel spoke to the manager briefly. While setting up we decided to use a voice memo app during recording. Using the app would've made the editing process easier. It would've made it easier because we could've just added the speech easily to th

Today my group and I did great work. Unfortunately, we could not complete our production because of rain. So we had to reschedule to finish at a later date. That date ended up being today. My group decided to take a new approach to production. In regards to the style of shots and angles. Which we are very pleased and impressed with. It actually came out better than anticipated. The location of the production remained the same. We decided to just continue at Lucas' house. We decided to stay there so we could keep the same theme and background for overall smoothness and simplicity. Other than with the new approach we finished production as planned. Overall the production process was pretty simple and straightforward. Definitely a lot smoother than I expected. Once we finished the production phase we promptly moved into the editing portion. We were considering using a number of editing platforms. One that we were really considering was Adobe. Another one was iMovie. But we decided to

My group is comprised of 3 people including me. It's a group of people that I'm very familiar with. One of my team members is Lucas Alves whom I've been friends with since tenth grade. My other team member is Daniel Arroyo whom I've been friends with since tenth grade as well. I'm excited to be working with both of these guys. Together I think we can really do some special things. We have finalized the recording location. We have decided to record at Lucas' House. But we have run into some struggles. Or rather some difficulties. More specifically, we ran into rain. And we ran into lots of it. After some time and discussion, we decided on a date to record. Everything was seemed to go according to plan. That was until the rain started. The group decided to just wait for the rain to stop. But then 5 minutes turned into 20 minutes. And 20 minutes turned into 40 minutes. Then 40 minutes turned into over an hour.  And so on, so we decided it was best to just reschedu

Lucas has great creativity and imagination. He also brings reliability. This will be useful to use in the future. Daniel has a great work ethic and is very smart. He also brings problem solving skills. This will be useful to use in the future. And I will bring importance to the team as well. I will bring consistency and responsibility. I will also bring positivity and flexibility. We haven't decided how and where we are going to record. But I believe we will record at Lucas' house. As for the time when I'm still not sure. Looking forward to the future. I'm very excited and
